Be part of the resistance in the fight against the Nazis. In this game, you have to murder the Nazis. Yes, it's simple, but not so fast. You have to go through various chambers and corridors to get to them. Watch out for the Gestapo, which are the blue guys that are stronger than the brownsuits. This is a great game for today's day and age. The fact that this is the first first person-shooter ever says something. This foreshadowed Halo, Grand Theft Auto, and other games that are well known today. This also foreshadowed Doom. If you like this game, go play Doom. I promise you won't be sorry. Overall, this game gets 5 stars because of its originality and the fact that this is the original first-person shooter ever.

Subject: Time to escape Castle Wolfenstein
I only ever played the GBA version in the 2000s, and playing the original in all its glory is quite refreshing. You absolutely get lost in its gameplay and enjoy the screams of shot down Nazi guards as you progress, while cursing them for shooting you in the back with a fatal life ending shot. Quite the game even today.

I personally love Wolf3D, It's one of my top 10 most favorite fps games of all time in my opinion. And it's one of the first! The intense gameplay, wide arsenal, and the abundant amount of Nazis to murder makes this game so much fun! I honestly can't recommend this game to most people. Because this game, although amazing for its time, has NOT aged well. It's really nauseating to look at Wolf3D at times and the levels become slightly more repetitive before changing things up a bit, then going back to being repetitive again. Honestly, I think Doom does everything Wolf3D does but better, More intense gameplay, More weapons, And an abundant amount of DEMONS AND ZOMBIES to kill. But I really can't compare them because they were made a couple years apart from each other. In conclusion, I don't think its a good idea to throw away everything you're doing and play wolf3D, But its fun to check out the game that shaped the fps genre as we know it. I give this game a 3/5.

This game is also for SNES and 32X game systems. Surprised who ever posted this didn't realize that. Just wanted to add the info here for reference.
BTW, awesome game. Sadly, could only play for a short time because of the "Ray Casting" mechanics in the game, plus the 90 degree turns instead of "flat" walls gave me headaches after a while. Also, it's always the same game every time...
1.) Enemies in the exact same place
2.) Enemies ALWAYS drops ammo
3.) With the exception of the dogs, all enemies/bosses shoot
Although if you look hard enough, there are web sites completely dedicated to this game and there are some really good editors out there.

Subject: Innovative, but kinda boring.
This game is a very good game. After all, it's the first First Person Shooter game ever created. Although it isn't *really* 3D (using Ray Casting mechanics for the effect), it's more than enough for when it was made. However, I find the game really repetitive,and that gets boring after a while. It certainly is exciting to play for a first time player, and adequate to come back to every other day, but in all, it's isn't 100% interesting to me. Again, I still think the game is very good, especially considering its age, but it gets boring.

Exit the game, and start it again from the command prompt (like I know you know how to!!) and type
"wolf3d -goobers" without quotes of course... Then google the rest for the commands.. So great....
Those obscure pacman levels that haunted your dreams over the past 2 decades? All there. The level warp command is where it's at.... I seem to remember there being these weird endless levels that if anyone finds -10 please let me know..... Part of my brain is locked in those levels.....

I use friv.com for let my nephews play games at my computer, even they do not know how to read.
This new design is a lot better that it was before, but it is still not appealing for children.
I would suggest a genre split and not "never ending" pages, it would be better one page for 1080p or even better for the detected resolution, and big vertical arrows at the left and right to go up and down to the next or previous page.
Also review some games captures, and make them describe visually the action of the game.

Subject: Wolfenstein (and Tristan Pinball) gave me carpal tunnel syndrome!
Wolfenstein 3D is working fine running in IA's in-browser DOS-BOX emulator. I was just 'peacefully' killing cartoon-Nazis by the dozens! It's a blood bath. All my computer friends were addicted to this 6-episode gaming series in the early 1990s. When you win Episode 1, you've become a true gamer. Try making it to your freedom, at the end of level 9. Use the "I am death incarnate" mode when you play Episode 1 to get there. Good luck!
Before today, I've had to fire up my old computer to play these games. Things don't work too well with my old computer's DOS-Box emulator. You really need to run DOS to get it right, or perhaps an early DOS-Box emulator under Win 95. The Archive's emulator runs Wolfenstein pretty well in my Firefox browser. The death-screams and kill-shots are slightly out of synch, but the realistic sounds are fun and the controls interact pretty well. It's like I'm playing the old game and I'm addicted all over again! I love the look, sound, and feel of playing this game. It's timeless. Thanks to everyone at IA.
Before Wolf, there was nothing like it. Everyone with a computer was playing Wolfenstein 3D in the early 1990s.
You might want to change the settings for the Controls to better match your keyboard. Options > Control > Customize controls > Keyboard. This is where you can change the keys. You need to be running and sometimes strafing while you're shooting. Awesome way to kill Nazis in this game. Running fast while shooting, and strafing on the attack is the only way to kill enough Nazis in this game to make it out alive.

Great! Exactly like the old MS-DOS version I remember.
One problem... how do you save and load?
If you try to save it seems to work fine, but will not remain if you leave the browser and come back. If you try to load at any point it seems to freeze the game.
It's a great game and a decent challenge on the 'Bring 'em On!' difficulty, and I would play on hardest difficulty if I could save, but I've been progressing very slow because I must do a whole chapter in it's entirety in one sitting (and without losing all my lives!) Anyone know how to fix this?

It's just like I remember it... all except I get to play it on a 50 inch TV! Graphics seem a lot better then getting the actual original game. Took me for ever the first time to beat it, and I wouldn't ruin the ending... Highly recommended...

Puts me way back then and the game play is super.
This one functions, unlike the original Wolfenstein found on this site.
The control is more than adequate on the keyboard.
